Suggested Timeline (For 2027 Australian Med Intake)

For students who have received their A-Levels results (or are NS Men) in 2026 and applying for 2027 entry

  • March to Aug 2026:
    Begin UCAT ANZ or ISAT preparation; shortlist likely universities; complete profile-building and reflection work
  • March to May 2026:
    Prepare and Sit ISAT if applying to Monash, UWA or UNSW through the ISAT route; complete any remaining school research and application preparation
  • April to August 2026:
    Prepare and Sit UCAT ANZ if applying to Adelaide, Newcastle or UQ, or if using UCAT ANZ for UNSW; some university processes for 2027 entry are already underway by this stage at certain schools such as Monash and Newcastle, so early planning matters
  • June to October 2026:
    Final application deadline for all schools, Attend interviews, including MMI-style interviews where applicable
  • August to November 2026:
    Receive outcomes from schools on differing timelines
  • January to February 2027:
    Commence university for schools whose intake falls at the start of the following academic year

Please note: different Australian universities publish timelines differently, and some 2027 cycles are already visible while others are released later. Monash has already published 2027 entry key dates, and UWA’s guide also sets out its 2026/2027 international pathway timing, while other schools update application details closer to the cycle.

Please always refer to the official university website for the official dates and deadlines.

Recommended next steps for students:

  1. Book a consultation with our medical admissions team
    We assess academic profile, target schools and likely admissions-test pathway.
  2. Decide on the right test strategy
    UCAT ANZ, ISAT, or both, (SAT if required) depending on the universities being targeted.
  3. Start preparation early
    The strongest applicants do not leave test prep and profile-building until after A-Levels.
  4. Build a realistic school list
    We help students target a balanced set of direct-entry and pathway-based options.
  5. Prepare for interviews from the start
    Interview performance often becomes the separator between similarly qualified applicants.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • SMC Recognition: 9 Australian universities are on the Singapore Medical Council’s (SMC) Second Schedule, allowing graduates to return to Singapore for internships and practice.
  • World-Class Institutions: “Group of Eight” universities, including Monash, UNSW, and UWA, rank in the global top 100 for medicine.
  • Early Clinical Exposure: Students often begin diverse hospital exposure in Year 1, working across public and private systems.
  • Familiar Environment: Large Singaporean student communities in cities like Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane ease the transition.
  • Identical Career Outcomes: Internship and specialist training pathways are identical to those of NUS or NTU graduates.

Australia provides viable options for various student profiles:

  • High Achievers: For those who missed NUS/NTU due to fierce competition, schools like Monash and UNSW offer equivalent prestige.
  • Determined Students with Lower Grades: Universities like Adelaide accept lower A-Level scores (e.g., 12 points) if the student has an exceptional UCAT score.
  • Non-Standard Applicants: Dedicated pathways exist for Polytechnic diploma holders (GPA >3.6 for Adelaide) and IB students (33-40 points).

Here are the  main Australian options Singapore families usually consider: Australian National University, Monash University, University of Adelaide, The University of Melbourne, University of Queensland (UQ), The University of Sydney, University of Western Australia (UWA), University of New South Wales (UNSW), University of Newcastle.

A few important distinctions for families to keep in mind:

  • Adelaide, Monash, UNSW and Newcastle are the most straightforward direct-entry style options for school leavers.
  • UQ’s provisional entry pathway is designed for students finishing high school, but the student first completes a linked undergraduate degree before progressing to the MD, subject to meeting progression requirements.
  • UWA’s assured pathway similarly combines an undergraduate degree with later progression into medicine, with interview and ISAT still part of selection.

Australian medical schools are not selecting students on grades alone. In most cases, a competitive applicant needs three things:

  • Strong Academics: Good A-Level or IB results remain essential.
  • A Strong Admissions Test Score:
    • Adelaide and Newcastle use UCAT ANZ;
    • Monash uses ISAT;
    • UNSW accepts either ISAT or UCAT ANZ;
    • UQ uses UCAT ANZ for provisional entry;
    • UWA uses ISAT for its assured pathway.
  • A Convincing Interview And A Credible Fit For Medicine
    Interviews typically assess motivation, communication, teamwork, ethics, empathy, reflection and decision-making. Adelaide, Monash, UNSW, Newcastle, UQ and UWA all make interviews a meaningful part of final selection.

That means successful students usually need to show not just that they can study medicine, but that they have thought seriously about why they want to become a doctor.

Testimonials

“

I felt that the consultation was really effective. The most helpful area and time consuming one was the practicing for interviews. The deep bank of questions as well as the consultant’s ability to question and probe as well as give advice ensured that I always came out of the sessions with something better. The help in the Personal Statement was also exemplary. The fact that there was more than 1 consultant looking at it made the quality of the Personal statement much higher than it had been initially. Overall, I was very happy with how easy it was to get along with the consultant, which greatly helped my application and skills.

I appreciated the rigorous interview practice I received before my Cambridge interview because it really helped me to prepare for all my 4 interviews and I got an idea of what to expect. It helped me to think on the spot, structure my answers, say them out loud and improve on them from the feedback. It also improved my confidence levels and helped me be less nervous during the actual interview as I was confident that I had enough preparation. I would recommend the admission preparation services to other students as I was successful in gaining admission into medical school. I received helpful feedback on both my interview skills and personal statements.

I am very thankful for all the valuable advice that consultants at Prep Zone offered me via emails and during face-to-face meetings. They are very experienced, inspirational, and friendly. Whenever I had a question about the application process, I would ask the experts at Prep Zone and get an answer really quickly. I will definitely recommend Prep Zone to my juniors.

I found my time working with Prep Zone consultants to be quite useful as they were able to provide me with insight into the processes. My counsellor was very helpful in filling in the gaps and tidying up my application. It was really good to get feedback on my essays and how to approach the questions originally to present me in the best light possible. Overall the experience was very enjoyable, useful and ultimately successful.

Prepzone was recommended to me by a friend. I felt that my consultant, Nirali was very supportive throughout all the stages of application and preparation, particularly in finalizing my personal statement. I also found my mock interviews to be extremely helpful. I did several mock interviews with many different consultants prior to my college interview which made me confident and well prepared.
