Singaporeโ€™s June Holiday Program For Students in Secondary 3 & 4 (Grades 9โ€“10)

Medical Careers Boot Camp

Give yourself a genuine head start in medicine

Medical school applications demand both academic and non-academic excellence. Academic results open the door – but what sets candidates apart is non-academic excellence: medical knowledge built over time through volunteering, shadowing, research, and a genuine understanding of diseases, the impact of technology, and the trajectory of advancement in healthcare. This boot camp sets you up to discover the world of healthcare and start building that foundation early.

Only 25 slots! Seating is very limited – register now to save your spot.

How It Works

Real Exposure to Medicine

Students get an honest, grounded look at what doctors do, how they think, and what working in healthcare actually involves.

Singapore's Healthcare Landscape

A look at how healthcare is structured and delivered in Singapore – useful context for any student considering a medical career locally or regionally.

Communication & Public Speaking

A dedicated session on communicating with clarity and confidence – a skill every medical school interview panel and university admissions officer will assess.

Collaborative Mini-Project

Students work in small groups on a shared challenge, practising the teamwork and communication skills that medical schools look for in applicants.

Programme Structure - Here's What's Covered

Students who do well in medical school interviews aren’t just academically strong – they are self-aware, well-spoken, and genuinely familiar with what medicine involves. This boot camp helps students begin building those qualities early.

Day 1: Foundations - Medicine, Ethics & the Doctor's World

Students start by getting a realistic picture of what a medical career looks like – the day-to-day, the specialities, the healthcare landscape in Singapore, and what it takes to get there. The day also covers the basics of ethics in medicine, with case discussions that get students thinking like future doctors. A junior doctor joins to answer questions and share their experience firsthand.

Topics covered:

  • Roadmap to Medicine
  • Singapore Healthcare
  • Ethics & Integrity
  • Junior Doctor Interaction
  • Communication Skills

Day 2: Speaking, Research & Group Project

A hands-on day focused on skills. Students work on structured public speaking – including the classic “Tell me about yourself” – before diving into medical ethics through scenario discussions. The afternoon is a collaborative mini-research project: small groups pick a health topic (such as mental health, genetic disorders, or autoimmune conditions), research it together, and present their findings to the group.

Topics covered:

  • Public Speaking
  • Medical Ethics
  • Teamwork
  • Mini Research Project
  • Group Presentations

Day 3: Applications, Clinical Skills & Hands-On Practice

The final day brings it all together. Students get a practical overview of medical school applications – UCAT, UCAS, and Singapore pathways – and work on personal statements and portfolio-building. The afternoon shifts to hands-on learning: a team dexterity challenge, then a clinical skills workshop covering real medical devices (stethoscope, BP monitor, glucometer, oximeter and more), triage basics, history-taking, and bedside manner.

Topics covered:

  • UCAT & UCAS Overview
  • Personal Statement
  • Dexterity Challenge
  • Clinical Skills Workshop
  • Medical Devices

What Students Take Away From 3 Days of Exposure

Genuine Career Clarity

  • Students leave with a clearer picture of what a medical career looks like – beyond what’s in textbooks – which is useful when writing personal statements or preparing for interviews.

Communication Confidence

  • A dedicated public speaking activity helps students find their voice – an essential skill for medical school interviews and the demands of a clinical career.

Teamwork in Action

  • Students collaborate on a real group challenge, demonstrating the interpersonal and leadership skills that top medical schools actively seek in applicants.

A Stronger Application Story

  • Universities want students who can speak authentically about their motivation for medicine. This boot camp gives you concrete experiences to draw on in personal statements and interviews.

A Head Start in Admissions

  • Students who attend gain early exposure to Prep Zone’s full medical admissions programme – and the advantage of starting to think strategically about their pathway from Secondary 3 & 4.
